Hyderabad: Hyderabad is set to experience record-breaking temperatures this February, with the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) predicting that the temperature may touch 40°C by the month’s end. This would be the hottest February on record, as the usual temperature range for this time of year is between 33°C and 36°C.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) records, Hyderabad’s highest temperature in February 2024 was 35.2°C, while 2023 recorded 34°C, and 2022 and 2021 saw highs of 35.5°C and 36°C, respectively. The rising trend is significantly different from past years, with 21 districts already reaching 37°C.
Weather expert Mahesh Palawat from Skymet stated that temperatures will continue to rise, with an expected increase of 3 to 4 degrees over usual levels. Experts attribute this early summer-like heatwave to climate change, urbanization, and shifting weather patterns.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and prepare for an unusually hot end to February.
