Amaravati: Heavy rains are battering several districts in Andhra Pradesh due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. Meteorological department officials warn that the heavy rains will continue for another three days.
Strong winds have made the sea turbulent, prompting officials to issue third-level danger warnings at Kalingapatnam, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Gangavaram ports.
The Amaravati Meteorological Center indicated heavy rainfall in the northwest Bay of Bengal, with wind speeds reaching 45 to 55 km/h, potentially increasing to 65 km/h. The low-pressure area is expected to concentrate near the coasts of North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh today and tomorrow. The sea will remain rough, and fishermen are advised not to venture out. Local authorities have been urged to stay alert.
Significant rainfall has been recorded in AP: Kukkunur and Polavaram (27 cm), Chintalapudi (18 cm), Pusapatirega (16 cm), Tadepalligudem (13 cm), Koyyalagudem (12 cm), Tanuku (11 cm), Ranasthalam and Visakhapatnam (10 cm), and Bheemili (9 cm).
