Washington, D.C.: A major diplomatic breakthrough occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s US visit, as former President Donald Trump announced his approval to extradite Tahawwur Rana, one of the key conspirators behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, to India.

Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-born Canadian national, has been accused of playing a significant role in the deadly Mumbai attacks of 2008. Despite India’s previous attempts to extradite him, multiple US federal courts had ruled against his deportation. However, during his meeting with PM Modi, Donald Trump formally declared his decision to hand over Rana to Indian authorities.
PM Modi welcomed Trump’s decision, expressing gratitude to the US administration for supporting India’s fight against terrorism. Rana is currently imprisoned in Los Angeles, awaiting extradition. His involvement in the 26/11 attacks, which claimed 166 lives, has long been a focal point in India-US counterterrorism discussions.
This announcement marks a significant victory for India’s global anti-terror efforts and strengthens India-US relations in combating terrorism.
