Hyderabad: A former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader, RS Praveen Kumar, has filed a formal complaint against Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of “criminal breach of trust” and causing a significant financial loss to the state exchequer. The controversy centers on the abrupt cancellation of the Formula E race event in Hyderabad.

According to the complaint, the Formula E race, held in February 2023, positioned Hyderabad as a global hub for e-mobility and sustainable innovation, generating $83 million in revenue and elevating Telangana’s international reputation. However, Kumar alleges that the CM unilaterally terminated subsequent Formula E events without consulting experts, the cabinet, or the state assembly, leading to a financial loss of Rs 55 crore and damaging Telangana’s image.

In a statement shared on social media, Praveen Kumar criticized the CM for violating his oath of office and for prematurely ending the agreement, which he claims disrupted a project that could have created thousands of jobs. Kumar urged the Narsingi Police Station to investigate the cancellation and its impact on public funds.

The complaint has sparked a debate over the administration’s decision-making process and its implications for Telangana’s global positioning.
