Just a day after a Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam-Mumbai IndiGo flight was subject to a hoax bomb threat, two additional IndiGo flights bound for Visakhapatnam from Chennai and Bengaluru were also targeted by bomb threats on October 29.
The threats were discovered by IndiGo’s regional security team, who were alerted after observing a post on X by user ‘AdamLanza202’ warning of explosives aboard. Both flights, identified as 6E917 from Chennai and 6E969 from Bengaluru, were immediately moved to an isolation bay upon safe arrival at Visakhapatnam International Airport. Security teams conducted comprehensive checks on each aircraft per standard bomb threat protocols.

“After thorough inspections, no suspicious items were found on either flight, and both were subsequently cleared for further operations,” said Airport Director Raja Reddy in a statement.
Following security clearance, the flights were approved for departure back to Chennai and Bengaluru, departing at 5:50 pm and 6:25 pm, respectively. The bomb threats caused delays of 2 hours and 10 minutes for the Chennai-bound flight and 1 hour and 35 minutes for the one to Bengaluru.
Authorities continue to investigate the source of the threats, maintaining heightened vigilance at all airports.
