Eluru: Andhra Pradesh is on high alert as a case of bird flu (H5N1) has been confirmed in a human in Eluru district. The infected individual, residing near a poultry farm in Unguturu Mandal, tested positive, triggering immediate action from health authorities.

Following the confirmation, medical teams have set up camps in the affected area to monitor and prevent further spread. Dr. Malini, a district health official, confirmed that this is the first recorded human case in the district and assured that necessary precautions are being taken. Authorities have declared a one-kilometer radius around Badampudi as an “infected zone” and extended surveillance to a 10-kilometer radius. Poultry culling has been ordered, and a 24/7 control room (9966779943) has been set up for reporting bird deaths.
Meanwhile, in East Godavari district, concerns over bird flu have led to the closure of poultry shops in Kanuru Agrahara. The outbreak has significantly impacted chicken and egg sales, causing distress among poultry farmers.
