Hyderabad police apprehended Kattamanchi John, a B.Tech graduate from Nellore, for alleged drug possession and peddling. The Excise Special Task Force (STF), acting on a tip-off, detained John near Sushma Theatre in Kranti Hills Colony with 7 grams of MDMA in his possession.

Authorities believe John, who had moved to Hyderabad to enhance his software skills, was involved in local drug sales. The STF initiated inspections near Vanasthalipuram’s SVR Garden and Kranti Hills Colony, eventually spotting a suspicious individual near Sushma Theatre, later identified as John.

Excise officials seized 7 grams of MDMA, valued at approximately Rs. 35,000 in the illegal market, along with John’s motorcycle and cellphone. Investigations suggest that John had purchased MDMA for Rs. 2,500 per gram and intended to resell it for Rs. 5,000 per gram, indicating possible involvement in organized drug dealing.

According to Excise Superintendent and STF Team Leader Nandyala Anji Reddy, this arrest is part of a larger crackdown on drug activity in the area. Authorities are intensifying efforts to address the rising threat of narcotics distribution across Hyderabad, especially among young professionals and students.
