Discussions also covered the revival of the volunteer system. Officials revealed that the term for volunteers ended last August, and although the volunteers were removed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a year ago, their positions were not renewed in 2023. Several ministers criticized YS Jagan’s administration for alleged mismanagement and fraudulent practices. CM Chandrababu Naidu suggested obtaining more information on the revival of the volunteer system.

The Cabinet reviewed past issues, including allegations of corruption related to the purchase of Sakshi newspaper. It was noted that Rs 205 crores were spent on these purchases over two years. CM Chandrababu Naidu has ordered an investigation into these irregularities. The Cabinet also decided to cancel the monthly Rs 200 payments for newspaper subscriptions to volunteer offices and secretariats.
