New Delhi: Seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs have resigned just days before the crucial Delhi elections on February 5. The resignations come after they were denied tickets to contest the upcoming polls, signaling internal turmoil within the party.

The MLAs who stepped down include Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), Rohit Kumar (Trilokpuri), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar), Bhawna Goud (Palam), and BS Joon (Bijwasan).

Bhawna Goud directed her disappointment at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, stating, “I have lost faith in you.” Similarly, Naresh Yadav, convicted in a Quran desecration case, accused the party of straying from its founding principles of honest governance.

Trilokpuri’s Rohit Kumar Mehraulia expressed frustration over the party’s failure to uplift Dalit and Valmiki communities, while Janakpuri’s Rajesh Rishi slammed AAP for betraying its promise of corruption-free governance.

The resignations, just five days before voting, could impact AAP’s electoral prospects. With the counting of votes set for February 8, the party now faces a crucial test as it navigates this internal crisis amid the ongoing Delhi liquor policy controversy.
